well i ran my truck on friday night and im really disappointed...

it ran a fastest of 16.6 with a reaction time of .175

and my mods are stock. 4.8/auto/rcsb

so what gives??

 

tuning and gears will be your best friend. i ran a 16.6 stock as well....two mods later and i'm now at a 15.1

 

Time isn't terrible for stock, don't be too disappointed. Awesome RT though!!
How'd your 60' and 1/8mi look? What MPH?

 

yeah don't worry about it....a lot of us start out with stock/slow trucks. some start out faster but that's b/c they have too much money

 

Were you expecting better from a stock 4.8l? Be happy! Good reaction time fer sure and now you have your baseline, get to work a modding and see your times drop!

 

yup my ext cab 4.8 ran a 17.2 stock and 15.9 with intake and cutout and my best with hptunning was a 15.3 but its just a 4.8

but i remember seing quiks video and he leaves on the last yello... and i did that then i put out that .175
but i cant find my slips.. but my mph was 83 and 81.. i believe but i dont remember the other ones...

 

That is about all you are going to get out of a stock 4.8, so nothing out of the ordinary there. Like 2K5Squirrel said, he got 1.5 second out of gears and tune (Nelson) which will run you about $1000. Add a 100 (or 150) shot of nitrous for $500 and you might see a high 14...

 

i think with cooler weather my truck will hit the 14's, then a 125 shot my truck could see some 13's...but i'm N/A with this one

I have an Extended cab 4.8L, a little home brewed tunning , intake, shorties, electric fans and I ran a best of 16.0, after my Corsa I can't even get it that far...but I need better weather to make a fair comparison. One thing to notice with the 4.8L, it's a rev. happy motor, I've caught people by surprise several times at the top end. A nice tight stall converter at ~2600 rpms will make that truck roll out. Beyond that gears and a tune will be helpfull.
