Promising Times At The Track With The Radix.....
#1
Went to the track today (50 degree temp) and went 12.27 at 108 with a 1.7 60 foot. This run was made within 5 minutes of arrival. Made some adjustments to the tune and got the mph up to 109.5 hot lapping it. My IAT's were 105-110 starting out each run and engine temps were 178-180. Most of my runs fell into the 12.30 range as my 60 foots were averaging 1.74 (spinning a little). Not sure how I got the 1.7 on the first pass, but it dead hooked and felt great! Maybe heat in the tires from the 50 mile drive??? Tire pressure was 35psi (LOL!). Near the end of the day, I did lower the pressure down to 27psi and let it cool a little but they closed the track before I could make another pass.
Last year in 40 degree air, I went 12.21 at 110 with a 1.7 60 foot. Since then I've added methanol injection, electric fans & a bigger throttlebody (87mm). Plus, I dialed in the tune some more.
I want to get this in the 11's, but I don't see it happening unless I take weight out or find some more power....or both! Not trying to be a ********, but I think it's kind of gay to run the number so to speak with some little tires (that look really dumb and are never used again except at the track) and pulling out seats, tailgates, sub boxes, spare tires etc. But I don't see myself hitting the numbers others have without it. I weigh 280lbs and with my sub box, amps, heavy stock 20's, etc. my truck weighs 5650 across the scales.
I'm sure the shorter/lighter 16" wheels, pulling my seat, sub box and tailgate plus the cooler weather will get me into the 11's, but ^^^ ........I guess I'm being silly......
What is the fastest SS silverado with stock wheels, full weight and radix? Maybe I'm chasing after something that isn't going to happen. I'm miles away from a 11.70 anything at this point---lol! Thanks.

I thought I was going to be in the 11's too. The last day the track was opened I ran my best time (12.42) spinning with a bad 60'. I think I could have went 12.20 with the speed I was going if I could have only hooked. After looking at the logs, I think my biggest problem is my gearing and tire height. I am going to swap gears next year, and think that should get me on the edge of 11's.
What RPM are you going through the traps at? It seems the meth didn't help at all. What are you using for meth? How many degrees were you able to add? What is your timing now? Your IAT is still pretty high, you should be able to help that with the meth set up properly. The Radix superchargers create a lot of heat, and the stock cooling system is just not enough from my experience. I will be adding another cooler, and maybe some other tricks up my sleeve to cool it down. Also, you are moving a lot of air, and the factory inlet pipe is a restriction. I would consider getting a CAI made up for it. You may also consider porting your TB just for a little more air. It won't help much, but every little bit helps. 11's are obtainable with what you have.

Youve got a strong running truck bud.
I would put a set of stock 17's on, thats not cheatin!
Are you pullied down all the way? Do you have or thought about an OD Crank pulley?
You need to shed wieght.
I run my stock 17's, and pull the tailgate.
Ex, i ran 11.7 in high sticky 87*, Then the last pass of the night my friend wanted a ride ( your allowed if you go over 12 sec, so they told me to let out after the 1/8 mile, but i didnt haha!) He weighs 200 pounds, I slowed down to a 12.0 with the added weight.
Food for thought.

I'm going through the traps at 4800rpm. I already have 4.10's so I don't want to go any steeper. A shorter/lighter tire setup would definitely help, I just hate the way these trucks look with them. Race wheels would be too flashy as I like the sleeper look.
Most of my passes were with the IAT beginning around 105^-110^. IAT would get up around 127-131^. One pass I started out at 115^, but still only got up to 131^. Before the methanol injection my IAT's would pick up about 55^ during a pass even in the 35^ ambient air. I'm using windshield washer fluid (30% methanol/70% water). I can definitely pick up some just by letting it cool down and getting my IAT/ECT's down, I just didn't have time today. I will save that for the end of the year when I'm going for my pb.
Before, I could only get away with about 19.5^ pulling through 3rd gear, 20-21 in 1st and part of 2nd. Now I'm pulling 21-22^ in 3rd. I tried a degree more today and didn't see any improvement so I backed it back down.
I wonder about the inlet as well. I'm using a Volant cold air intake setup with the Radix rubber inlet tube. I'm thinking about going to a 4" custom inlet pipe and removing the Maf, but I really want to keep the Maf.......IIRC, the maf is about 87mm so it may be posing a restriction. I do plan to go to a bigger tb (90mm minimum if not 102mm).
Thanks man, I appreciate it! As it sits, I'm confident I can get it to go 12.0's - 12.10's as it sits in better air with a good hook and some tweaks to the tune. I'm really tempted to try the tires, just seems like a total waste as I would never use them any other time but the track......but they would put me in the 11's I'm pretty sure.
I'm running a 2.8 pulley with stock lower. I thought that was about it for these blowers. Anything higher and they get so inefficient that any gains in flow are offset by the heat the blower generates. Have you heard/seen different?
Definitely, sounds like the weight is killing me
I'm surprised 200lbs hurt your times that bad.
My setup weighs a ton! My speaker box is mucho heavy! Obviously, the amps don't help either. I'm not completely opposed to pulling that stuff out. Just seems like cheating to pull the seats, tailgate, etc..... Maybe I can justify it to myself by saying that it's not fair that I weigh 280lbs and another dude might only weigh 180lbs.....
Have to make up that weight somewhere

I have net tweaked my meth yet, but I mix in 4 bottles of NAPA 7100 MAC Isopropyl alcohol per gallon of washer fluid. Just mixing it that way seems to have the best effect so far. My racing season is done where I live, so I might mess with it next spring.
I am running a 2.6 pulley, and don't think it is losing me power due to the heat over what a 2.8/2.9 has. I think there is a more power in it yet, but I still feel I gained over the 2.9. I think I will benefit more when I improve the cooling system. Plus I am going to run a 100 shot or so to help cool thinks down in the intake.
I agree with you on the wheel/tire combo. I like my Gibbs wheels, and want to keep it that way. But on the other hand shorter wheels is like gearing down your rear, and it is easy to put the stockers back on. We will see what next year brings. I need to do something, last run I never got out of 2nd at 111 MPH. I was screaming it, and don't know why it didn't shift, but it has some long legs.

Put 2.6 on there and some dayco 101mm idler pullies.
Yeah you get a lil belt slip but you'll be fine.
Also i would see about using / tuning for E85 if you have it available and large enough injectors. E85 is guaranteed 50 rwhp .

I played with the nozzle size on my kit when I put it on. The initial nozzles didn't change the amount of IAT gain hardly at all, but did suppress the detonation. I stepped up the nozzle size a few times to where I'm at now and I generally only pick up about 25^ of IAT per pass now. I know you go too far with the water mix and it will lose power and bog when the mix hits. I haven't got to that point, but I think I'm close so I stopped upping the nozzle size. AIS (where I got my kit) felt I was doing good with my setup and current temps so I left it alone.
I would love to spin the blower harder, but I seen a ton of threads out there saying that it would hurt me. Maybe not since I'm using a Methanol injection kit......
Do you have a part number on the Dayco idlers? I think I already have those on my truck now. I may try the 2.6, one way to find out if it works or not...lol!
Injectors and possibly pump are not big enough. The fuel is available, but not an option as I drive this truck about 20,000 miles a year. Too much money---I would do it in a heartbeat for a toy/weekend driver though!!!
50rwhp??? That would be incredible!

If you go to a 2.6, you need to machine down the snout on the blower for the pulley to slide on. I just ended up getting a small Dayco pulley new off of eBay for $11. I mounted it on the support for the snout to get more belt surface area on the pulley. I rarely get belt slip with it.

Oh, wow is that pretty involved to remove the snout off the blower? Would be interesting to swap the 2.8 pulley at the track and see what difference you have. Too bad, the track is closed by you......
I don't want to get too crazy here as my motor is starting to get long in the tooth as they say. It has almost 160,000 miles and they weren't nice miles judging from the warranty history---lmao!
My plan is tentatively a 427 lsx with a TVS 2300. I've considered the 370 route as well as a turbo, centrifigal & even big NA. When it all comes out in the end, I want torque and a lot of it. The lower the better as it is my daily driver. I think the 427/TVS 2300 combo is going to win----especially considering (I forget his username) the one dude who has the 408 with TVS 2300 that has gone 11.40 already in 60* temps IIRC at full weight! Should be knocking on the 10's in the good air......Ultimate daily driver FTMFW!!!!
Ahhh, decisions decisions.......
