I run the factory LS2 275/55/20's on my truck. I ran a 1.69 60' once according to my slip, and I am still really reluctant to believe I got it that fast. Since that the best I have been able to get was a 1.85, and I feel that is what my truck will do. My suspension is completely stock, and I plan on putting on Caltracs next year. I would actually suggest putting something heavy in the very back of the box near the gate for better traction. If you are running against cars, I think the car will have much more of an advantage even though your truck is extremely fast. Is this only an 1/8 mile run they are doing?

We had the same event at a local track of ours and needless to say some of my buddies went with there diesels and Spoiled everyones goodtime. They where launching in 4x4 on about 20lbs. boost and was killing everybody out the hole so bad they could not reel them back in the 1/8mile. 12V Cummins Won on 35'in Nitto Mudd Grapplers ran low 7's all night.

If racing in an event like this with a 2wd vehical I would put a few hundred lbs in back behind the rear tires. The added traction would be worth the weight penelty.

2nd gear launch might work, the trans wont downshift into 2nd until over 87.5% TPS on a stock manual 2nd gear 2-1 shift table..
Weight over the rears works.

Taller tires with the same width puts considerably more rubber on the track.

Well, I figure a couple test runs is a good idea. Lets just say this going to be tough, real tough for the 500+HP guys to make this happen. I tested launching at 2500, was cutting 2.0 60', but it was around 330 foot area when I started laying into past 50% that fun started lol.

I'm running NT05's on the rear. 200 tread rating. Managed a couple high 7 second passes. I think if I can cut a mid 7 1/8th and good light I "may" have a chance at it.

Whoa, looks whats back from the dead. Lets heat things up a bit , it's cold outside. Keep me posted on when they are re-scheduling this race. Sounds like a good time and an easy 500 bucks.

You mean you want to run me with my boat pulling tires? What kind of boat you pull with that ranger?

That race already happen, I didn't run in it because the weekend before there was a nasty wreck. I feel my truck is much safer on a good track tire. The Hoosier's are DOT, not a full slick.

I used to pull a trailer with dirt bikes, but the kids are too big to fit into the truck with me. I ran uniroyals but have since changed to hankook"s because of a discontinued size problem. You choose the tire. You don't go fast enuff on your boat tires to be unsafe. Sack up, and choose your time and place. I need a decent win to think about over the winter.

Default Street tires???

Everyone knows "Drag radials" aren't true street tires. Guys are running 4's on 275's I mean C'mon. If you claim to have a "Real" street truck then you better be prepared to run on "Real" street radials like your mom has on her car. If you can do that then I can respect your claim of a real street driven vehicle. I havn't seen the GMC truck run but I have seen the Ranger pulling a trailer full of dirtbikes down the interstate to go riding with his kids. I also know it was his only vehicle and daily driver for a good while. Id like to see this race.
