Question No overload leafs for better 60ft's...who runs that at the track?

I have No overload leafs on my truck and I was still playing with shock settings and tire pressure before I Left. I wanted to see how many guys run no overload leafs. My truck is the stock height, with no overload leaf and I run 28 inch ET streets with my Cal-tracs. Do you guys HAVE to run no overload leafs because your trucks are lowered or does it ACTUALLY help the truck 60ft without them? I have heard of warpage with the regular leafs by themselves but that was on a truck that made some serious power.....my truck is a low 14 second truck and pretty much stock until I get back with the money that I am saving on deployment.....

What do you guys run/think? WITH....or without overload leafs?

I had no overloads on my last truck (Dodge) for 2 years with no issues. I've had no overloads on this truck for 3 years now and I still fill the bed with pipe; concrete; and other material regularly.

I'm a non-overload spring guy with Cal-tracs. On the hoosier's it a 1.58-1.65 every time leaving at 3600. I was told the Cals work better with no leaf, so I ran it that way from day one. I'll have a transbrake next time out, hope to go deeper 1.5s

Leave the stock leafs in. Get a true slick for the track and you will hook fine.

I like to clamp the overload leaf in front of the axle.

If you've got caltracs, you can try taking them out but I don't think you'll improve much. Just clamp them and adjust your caltracs properly, run on a true slick and you'll see what you're wanting

I run no overloads drop shackles and the middle leap is cut 10 inchs on both ends and a set of home made long bars. front coils are cut too. stock 170k mile shocks up front a stiff rear shock in the back. went 1.64 on a drag radial.

For what its worth, I've been 1.56 on stock leafs w/overload clamped in the front. No caltrac or traction devise what so ever. I'm not saying modification to the stock spring pack or caltrac's/traction bars are junk, I'm just saying you can get good result without it.

If I read his original post correctly, he has already removed the overload leaf and added Cal-Tracs. I think he is asking whether or not he should reinstall the overload leaf. I say no, do not add it back in.

He also asked who else runs at the track like this. I do, and many others do. I was cutting 1.7x 60 ft's last year with the wrong tires and the wrong gearing. I'm hoping for better this year.
