Default my diesel and some of the guys at the track

I went to the track with 2 of my cousins and a buddy of mine. I hav an '05 cc/sb lly with edge juice programmer and a cold air kit, one of my cousins has a 99 ext cab sb that is stock the other cousin has stock trailblazer ss and our buddy has a 98 vortec truck with a 150 shot and cam change and bolt ons with full exhaust . I went 14.76 the 99 chevy went 15.7 and the trailblazer went 13.7 and finally the vortec truck went 12.91. It was a fun nite just to go race our daily drivers instead of the race cars.

Well considering you said you own a race car you probably know a good amount about trucks and all that but I still wanted to tell you to be careful if you're turning that programmer all the way up on the stock tranny. I know diesels like to **** transmissions hahaha. What kind of car do you own? I'm just starting to do my research but I'm looking to buy an 87 grand national that I want to run 9's and be street legal.

Well as far as blowing up the trans the programmer has been on there for awhile and it hasn't blown up yet but I expect it to. Also the truck has 40000 miles on it too and the edge programmer I have on there backs down the power when it feels the tranny is getting too much power to make it slip. What I'm worried about the most is my egt with the stock exhaust I know I need to change it but with work and fixing my house I dont have the time. As for my racecar you're in luck I own an 87 buick t-type. It went 11.80 at 118 on its fastest pass with the stock motor before I blew it up on the way to the dyno to see the numbers I was putting out. To meet the requirements that you want the stock block will get you there but you are going to have to strengthen the block up considerably to hold together the other route is to find a stage block and build it up its much stronger. The 2004r trans has been proven to go 9s but it is very expensive to make it that strong. I think pts sells a 2004r already built to go 9s but its $4000. Most guys put a turbo 400 in it but personally I like to keep my overdrive. Your turbo would have to be no smaller than a 72 mm. I,m getting a 76 from innovative with the dual ceramic ball bearing to help it spool easier than a journal bearing. Also you're going to need the usual stuff such as front mount intercooler bigger stall suspension mods and most likely a standalone fuel management system such as FAST,bigstuff , megasquirt or something. It,s hard to tune on a chip for a 9 sec car. Send me a pm if ya got any questions about the car

Yeah all the deisel guys I know say with the edge to be safe you need intake, exhaust and gauges then turn that sucker up.

As for the T-type.....you are one lucky sob haha. What's the fastest you can get these cars to go on the stock block and with a minor built tranny? I would plan to go full forged internals and I would want to keep the tranny with overdrive so how fast could I get the car to reliably with that set up? My first goal with the car would be 11's but since it will just be a toy it will be getting 4 linked in the rear with full drag suspension and all that good stuff.

A minor build on the tranny such as hardened sun shell and a shift kit will hold together for some good low 11 sec passes. Thats what my trans basically has and it went 11.80 before it blew up but I needed a converter in the trans because the one i had was too tight. With a good convertor it would of went 11.50's consistently. On the stock motor with a good tune and all the usual bolt ons these cars will go low 11's on slicks. If you build a stock block with forged internals make sure you either put billet main caps with studs or put a girdle on the bottom end and o-ring the heads for receiver groove gaskets. That setup with a good cam and sum champion gn1 aluminum heads will take you to mid tens with a good turbo, could be faster with sum thing big such as a 72 or 76. As for the four link thing these cars come factory with a four link just change out the factory pieces for adjustable units and these cars will hook hard with it adjusted right. Cal Hartline of Hartline Performance has a gn that runs 8.56 on the stock location rear suspension. You can check out video of his car on his website www.hartlineperformance.com My race motor was built by him and i plan on going back to get the car tuned by him.

Well I registered on turbobuick.com so I'm doing my reading and am starting to gather info on them. How much did your built motor cost if you don't mind me asking? I may find a high mileage one and just get a full race motor and transmission.

my race motor I got out of a wrecked car in florida that only had 7000 miles on it and the guys i got it from sold it to me for 4500 but i got a whole exhaust system with it and an aluminum driveshaft and they gave me the built trans and torque converter with it so I think I got a pretty good deal. If you feel like it register on t6p.org also because sum of the big guns post on there such as:Cal Hartline , Jay Carter (chip tuner) Jay of jaysgn.com Jack Cotton Of Cotton Performance and Dan Strezo of DLS engineering ( engine builder) and a host of other guys.
