Well guys, it happen, I own a solid 9 second truck!!!!
First thanks goes to big guns upstairs for keeping me safe and second for a awesome little chevy truck getting it done.
Full back ground story, decided last minute to make this trip. I was trying to find a reason I shouldn't go and had many, mainly what happens if I break this thing! but ended up saying lets do this and loaded up with Faith in red. I left to win the True Street 10.00 class, not try to, but I felt I could win it. In any case, not this year lol. Getting anything thats a real street car to run 10.00's after a 30 mile/1 hour cruise (which was really neat) and directly to the strip, no hoods up, no tuning aloud, but 3 back to back passes in 90+ degree heat is a big damn challenge. Any case, I learned some for next year. This year I went 10.28 off the street pulling about 5 degree timing all of the 2nd-3rd gear due to 210+ engine and 160+ AIT's. Next was a 10.40 pass. Then the big bummer I wanted to use nitrous since I was down to 12 degree's timing after 1st gear and it would only help cool my AIT and get my 10.3 average back down closer to 10.0. However my nitrous wouldn't purge and I was using a wet shot. So I feared a horrible rich 1st gear bog and maybe longer before i'd see nitrous. Then came the fact after my last pass I was sitting at 230 when I shut the truck off in the lanes. So I turned the fans on and we pushed it to the front, go to start it and click.. dead battery!!! WTF, my red top battery was crap after 20 minutes of fans running. So, 2 minutes later we got DQ'ed for not being ready. What a Bummer!
After that let down calmed down, I wanted to get my long awaited 9 second pass. So we charged my **** head two year old optima battery for a couple hours and brought a cool truck to the burnout box. We decided to really make this happen and set the boost at 22psi and 50 shot on top that.
Ended up dead hooking on brand new MT ET streets radials (295/65/15s), left on a 3700 2-step, 50 shot of nitrous on at 4200. Pass felt amazing, cut a great light on a pro tree and ended up going around a 9 second trans-am at the 8th mark and rolled on out the back half. Was truly my favorite pass to date in the truck....
Sunday I did the dyno shootout. Came into some issues on the track tune being waaaaay to rich and only getting 2 attempts per there runs left me a little short on solid numbers. That ended with a best of 839 at 5100 RPMS lol and good for 3rd place and $100 bucks on holley goods.
On to pic's, still waiting for my bud to send me the video of the 9.77 pass, but once I get it i'll post up.
VIDEO UPDATE!!!
