There was a fella last night out at our local mexico meetup, who had a rcsb sierra with a 5.7 swap, with a cam, trans, etc...and he was being drug from a roll/dig by a buddy of mine's bone stock srt grand cherokee. Kind of disappointing.

Why is it disappointing? Stock cars are fast now. You can have your cake and eat it too these days. Factory cars running 10s with full warranties and creature comforts like ventilated seats.

I know stock cars are fast, I have been in this **** for over 20 years and watched the evolution. A blower, bolt ons, and tire on my car is a 9 second car that still gets over 20mpg with all amenities. I'm saying it was kinda disappointing because the truck sounded like a full blown drag truck, and got drug by a heavy suv. You see a lot of guys doing heads/cam/stall etc on 5.3 trucks, and the reality of it is, as you said..stock 6.2 pickups are faster lol.

You definitely need a lot more cam in that 6 liter my 5.3 has a 227/234@50 551/551lift on a 108 LC stop ***** footing around I say if your going to turbo and camshaft it go all the way! Putting in a tiny cam in is like a man hung like a 10 year old sure it works but she'll never be really happy with it!

I put a basically stock LQ4/80E in my old truck - TPiS ZL10 camshaft, Airraid MIT, Magnaflow muffler. It ran 14.3 @ 98 MPH. The completely stock 5.3/60E went 15.6 @ 87 MPH
The same engine and transmission is in my current truck with added mods, makes about 60-70 more rwhp. I believe it's very capable of mid 13s in street trim. It's a VERY mild combination, I use it for towing trailers and hauling ****. Bigger cam, a looser converter, and some sticky tires - it would run high 12s.
