Man I don't know how on earth yall are getting such good times with stock 5.3's unless they have full bolt-ons and aren't really "bone stock". I was around the 15.4ish range with my stock 5.3 down to the factory exhaust manifolds and tune. Swapped in the 6.0 and street tune and ran a 14.2ish with everything else being equal. Dropped over a second with cubes and a tune.....

bone stock 5.3 to me means that the motor has never been cracked open. headers, intake, throttle bodies, tunes, gears, converter, exhaust doesn't mean it's not a stock 5.3. it's a bone stock 5.3 with **** bolted around it.

As stated, the only mods i had were dual exhaust and a diablo sport programmer. Oh and the overload leaf spring removed.

It's in the tune.

There is a ton of **** that needs tweaking in the tune.

Your spark curve plays into as well. How fast you get into PE mode, burst knock, etc etc.

That's not even touching the ve or maf tables. A proper tune takes a few hours.

Throw away the intune, please.

After i put cam, stall, intake, etc i went to Thunder Racing(now EPS) for a dyno tune. This was in 2005... Plus it ran damn good for a handheld programmer, although that is the first and last one i have owned. Custom tuning is the only thing i will ever get.

Geoff was the only person i ever used until i recently went with Atomic for my last tune. Goeff also specs all my cams. Ionly had Atomic do a segment swap for the 4l80e but will be using him to review my logs and have his supports for when i go turbo!

The 5.3 is still stock. Its like a boob job, lip injections, *** implants and **** bleaching on that virgin. All those bolt ons dont change the fact that her bottom end has never been split open.

Sure loved the sbc for years and years but LS is the king now. If I put together another ride it will be a stock block ls.
