Default How do you launch at the track.....

I was just wonder how everyone launches at the track... My converter is supposedly a 2800, but according to the logs it is around 3200..... So last night I would brake stall up to 1000-1200 then hammer the gas at the 3 yellow.... I had not spin when I did it that way... If I stalled up to 2000 and hammered it at the 3rd yellow, it would wheel hop bad and spin...... Just wondering what everyone else does......

every truck will react different...you just have to play around with it and find your trucks sweet spot.

i usually launch anywhere from 1100 to 1600 rpm...it doesnt seem to make a difference as long as im in that area.

slicks will make a HUGE difference. you should be able to launch however you want without major traction issues

Well I don't have the tire exploding slips cause I was pissed and told the slip guy to throw them in the trash..... My best of the night was...

60ft 2.010
330 5.720
mph 60.45
1/8 8.801
mph 79.04

Nothing super impressive, but not bad IMO for a 4.8 on street tires...

not bad at all! i think my best was 2.09 on these BFG's with the 4.8. around 8.9x on motor, and 8.2x on a dry shot.

my converter wasnt as good as yours though, hence i have replaced it with a smaller OD verter and higher stall. no new times yet.

congrats though. thats very strong. if i were you, i would get some DR's or slicks and spray it. might have one of the only minimally modded 4.8's in here to go 7.xx in the 1/8th. good luck to you Corey.

Thanks man, yep I am researching some nitrous options, everytime at the track I check out other peoples setup and ask questions... Slicks will come before the nitrous... Honestly I wanting to see how much the 4.8 can take before dying, that way I would have a good excuse to UPSIZE... I just have a hard time justifying pulling a perfectly good motor....

On slicks I will bring it close to 2000 and go on the 3rd yellow.... On street tires I've got to roll into it from idle. The converter blows them right off...

Haven't had it on the track since the turbo but I am sure ill have to learn how to launch it all over again... I'd like to see a few lbs of boost as the lights are falling. Ill probably have to put a bottle back on it though to make it leave like I want.

like mentioned every truck reacts different, i have tried mine from idle all the way up to 2200 and its still the same 60' no matter what.... but i just try to launch at 1krpm just for the hell of it and let the converter flash....

dont wast your money on traction bars, you'll be surprise what the difference with some slicks... with your 4.8, some 26" would be your better choice for a better 60' and e/t..
