Default Getting baseline before turbo!

Well with the season coming to a close at the end of this month I felt that now was a good time to get a good baseline before I put my turbo on this spring.

Specs on the truck for all runs are as you see in my sig. All runs were at Old Dominion Dragstrip (1/8 mile) at an elevation of 190ft according to drag time DOT com. Weather data is also from them. All runs were also ran AS IS daily driven everyday, no weight reduction of any kind, not even a tire pressure change. All of my runs have been in 4WD as I plan on racing in 4WD once the turbo is on. Might as well use it since Im stuck with the extra weight .

Now for the times... First time I tried getting a baseline (9-14-11) wasnt exactly the best day. Temps were over 80* and fairly humid. I dont have pictures of the 2 slips from that day but times were:

1st run - R/T .305, 60' 2.434, 330' 6.897, 1/8 10.603 @ 66.3mph
Temp 84.2*, 29.89in/hg, 56.5% humidity, DA 2,176ft.

2nd run - R/T .229, 60' 2.415, 330' 6.81, 1/8 10.449 @ 67.52mph
Temp 80.6*, 29.91in/hg, 70% humidty, DA 1951ft.

My second time out was this evening (10-5-11). Made a total of 5 passes but I don't have weather data yet and will post that as soon as dragtimes has it available. I can say for sure that temps were pretty much under 70* the whole evening and what felt like almost no humidity. I took a picture of my 5 slips and are in order from first run to last (left to right). I tried focusing on getting my truck on the converter as much as I could while still cutting a good R/T. Note the .007" and .001" R/Ts!

Average weather for the night; 62*F, 30.2in/hg, and 82.5% humidity for a DA of 300ft (track is 190ft).

I know these aren't steller times but hey, its an ECSB 4WD truck with only 93 tune, CAI and race muffler dumped... IM HAPPY! I feel as my times would be better with a retune for the dumped race muffler coming from a CRAPMASTER catback that was one when originaly tuned.

Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions. I want this to be a good example for anyone else with similar setups.

Looks like a strong setup man, I'd be very pleased with those numbers. You'll love the mp70, it's perfect for DD trucks. Everyone loves saying they got a huge turbo, but the smaller turbo setups is where the funs at.

Thanks guys.. I was really happy lastnight after that first run turning out the 10.17. Not bad for a truck thats almost 6,000lbs. I was even happier after I cut the .007 light then the .001 right after it! Felt like a pro on the tree out there lol.

Good times man!

Did you keep it in 4wd for the entire run?

Did you foot brake it to a certain RPM at the line or did you leave at idle or?

Thanks!

Yes runs were in 4WD the whole time. switching back to 2WD before turning off the track.

Foot braked it to I think it was about 1800 max and left on the 2nd yellow light. Couple of the runs I didnt get all the way to 1800 and was around 1400-1600. The truck seemed to love every RPM I could make at the line. Once the turbo goes on Ill be running a fully built 60/65e and a 2500-2700ish billet stall and hope that it likes all of that converter as well.

Also... I dont know if it was the brakes that helped or just being in 4WD, but once I hit my max stall it did not push through the brakes. Just loaded up and hooked once I let off the brake.

Heading to a different 1/8mi tonight from 6-9ish. I think its around 150ft higher up but its supposed to be from 58-52 this evening. Will post up times either tonight or tomorrow.

Also posted up data for my last runs just averaged out the 5 for an overall idea.

Good luck man! I'm looking forward to see how you do in the cooler weather. What gears are you running?

I appreciate this thread alot. My truck is similar to yours [04' CCSB Z71 5.3], and I have similar mods [3" SI/SO MagnaFlow, K&N oem filter, Airbox mod, UPD intake tube & airbox top] except for the tune. Looking forward to see where you go with your truck

Thanks man, thats why I made this thread with all the info! Im running factory 3.73s and open diff. all runs are in 4WD as I can not hook in well enough in 2WD to make my times any faster at the 1/8mi.

tonights best run was:
2.33 - 60ft
6.65 - 330ft
10.254 - 1/8 @ 68.7mph

track @ 300ft
temp - 53.6*
humidty - 74.5%
b. press - 29.80in
DA - 287ft

over 12 runs total the truck averages 10.3 in the 1/8mi in 4WD. I like how consistant its running but I feel like it would be quicker in 2WD if I could get it to hook ever. Not worried about that since once the turbo is on I will only run 4WD.
