My previous best was a 13.2@99.57 with the mods in my sig. If I switched to 4.10s and a 31" tire, how would my 1/4mile change? Im thinking it will be about the same if not alittle better. What do yall think?

 

I would think your going to slow down. You need the gear to get that heavy pig moving.

 

But with the smaller lighter tires it shouldn't be to bad. It came stock with 3.73s and 31.5" tires. I guess I need to get the tires on there and see what it crosses the traps at.

 

If you are just changing gears, and not tire size, I think it is going to hurt your 1/4 mile time pretty good. If you have the 285/70/17's on now, you should be crossing the traps at about 4600 RPM's in drive. If you switched to 4.10's, 99 MPH would be about 4100 RPM's in drive. If you switched to a 31" tire with 4.10's, you would be going 99 MPH at about 4400 RPM's. Give or take.

 

Im crossing the traps at about 5300 in 3ed gear now. with the 31" and 4.56s Itll be around 5800. Im shifting at 6700 and drops to about 5100.

 

ive always been told you wanna cross at the same rpm you shift at. id like to try more gear. i think with your tire size your closer to a 4.10 gear. i run a 31'' tall tire on the street and a 28'' at the track. i think i cross at 5800rpms also,

 

Try the shorter tire first. See how you like it. Then go from there. You should gain something. Lighter and shorter...
