First time ever to the track

I didn't realize they were et drags. My bad so few run a full drag tire I saw et and went onto the next words.
My E.T. streets were in the 18-22 range. I wasn't hitting them hard only pulling 1.9s on nitrous but they dead hooked on the street at the 18-22 range. You run a full slick that much lower? You guys are calling 16 psi high on the full slick so 12-14? Seems foolish as the tire on this truck could probably run at 25 psi and dead hook at the track?
I am asking because I have no experience with full slicks and they are rarely talked about around here since they are rarely used.
Ultimately you want as much pressure as possible and still dead hook. I wouldn't want to put a truck down the track at 100+ mph at 12-16 psi unless I absolutely had to in order to hook.

Im running spring clamps in the rear right now. They work good to stop the wheel hop.
Is it just me or do slicks feel weird for a first time user? I didn't hit them hard of the line(obviously with a 2.0 60'), but rolling through first gear they stuck really well. As the power rolled on it felt like the truck pulled to the left and being in the left lane i thought I was going to get into the wall. I was thinking the truck was spinning, but it wasn't.
More like tracking uneven. Maybe the track was grooved? Any input here? Maybe I need to check my rear, as i heard a loud clunk from what I assumed to be my locker at one point! Maybe this is natural sway from the slicks that I wasn't accustomed to.

There are a lot of smaller tracks that are only 1000 feet.
16 psi is a little low for slicks and the 19 you ran should be the right about the sweet spot.
What engine is the snail helping along? 4.8-5.3? Depending on your converter and engine will determine how low that 60 can become.

Made it back to the track again. No better times(best was a 8.30 again), but learned a bunch. Burned a plug wire, and found out that my tire gauge was about 10lbs off. Aired it up the first pass to something stupid, like 25 psi, and it felt good. Borrow another gauge and it read 16psi. So, i knew my gauge was bad on all my previous runs.
Only left on 4lbs at 2200 rpms for a 2.0 60'. The trap speed wasnt working. Plan on seeing if i can get a sub 2.0 60' and maybe get this thing in the 7's. Started raining while I was at the track. Going to be trying again this weekend.
