First 1/8mi Times w/LS-1
#1
Well went to the 1/8 mile track yesterday to see what the little beast would run. With the 22's it didn't hook for ****, and I could only get a 9.7 @ 75mph, with a 2.635 60ft!! So then we tried to put on my stock rims and tires to see if we let out some tire pressure if it would help. Still blew the tires off and ran a 9.5 @ 77.95mph with a 2.513 60ft. Next weekend I'm going to put the slicks on it, and see if I can get some 8's. Now some of you guys might be thinking that these times are slow, but where I'm at (6300+ DA) it's pretty damn respectable!! Now if I go to Houston I can easly drop at least 6 tenths in the quarter, most likely around 8 tenths to a full second, if that gives you an idea of what we have to deal with in West Texas!!

Not too bad Austin but if i was you i wouldnt put slicks on it i would just try a set of DR's i would hate for the slicks to bog you down like they do on my 11 sec car. you should be able to get some 8.8-9's. You gonna leave that stock cam in there?

Well I'm gonna use Bud's ET Streets. No, as soon as I get the engine and rims sold, I'm buying LT's, cam, stall, and some bigger injectors. The one's that are in it right now are at 95% Duty Cycle! After that is installed and Spears tunes it, it should be runnin low 13's, high 12's

Slicks will work just fine.
Dont mess around with a DR if you drive alot, they just dont last. Waste of money IMO, I ran teh 325 50 15 FBG DR, they did hook well, but for the burnout that you have to do to get them to work 100% it eats the treads FAR to quickly.
I just get used CASCAR 28x 9" slicks for $20 a pair that the CASCAR cars use as qualifying tires, they only have 3 or 4 laps on them. They dead hook pretty much.
Even with a set of 275/60-15's street radials non-DR I have snagged a 2.007 60ft in my trucks.
good luck, a properly sized slick will do you fine.

I'm actually thinkin about it! Me and some of my friends want to go there pretty soon to see what our vehicles can "really" do. What day is it next month? I would really like to go if I have everything done on the truck. Let me know....
