seems like i have tried about 10times now. often with things to fix after i got back home. this time i need to swap out my head gaskets.
for this trip i droped 190lb's, bolted on some caltracs, taped off a couple of holes up front and took off the mirrors, tighend the front end limiters a little, beefed up the fuel system a little and put in colder plugs.
first trip down the track it ran a 10.33 at 16psi with a 1.68 60'. i had the nitrous turned down off the line just to see how things were going to work with the caltracs. it had a top end miss too, prety happy with the et but i got lots of kr. not sure why i got kr since the fueling was in the 11's and i was running strait race gas.
i tried another run but with the larger jet off the line. no miss this time and it ran a 10.24 with a 1.60 60'. too much kr again. not sure why i had kr i decided to pull the "colder -8" plugs and go back to some 7's. oh crap, got no 7's with me and none to be found in town so i went to some 6's. it looked to me like the -8's were sticking into the chamber too far. there was soot on a couple of threads.
next run was the same set up as before but with the proper but too hot of plugs still got some kr, grrr, not having the right plugs to try i wasn't sure if it was the plugs or something else. ran a 10.22 with the same 60'. with the caltracs the truck just lifts up and goes nice but i am not hammering it out of the hole yet.
i wasn't geting the kr till it hit 3rd gear so i got tricky with it. i turned up the boost just in 2nd gear. it ran about 18psi in 2nd and 16.5 in 3rd. i also let it spool a little before i launched. it still pulled a low 1.6 60' but my et was 10.11. still saw some kr and guess what, poped a head gasket
i knew i was playing with trouble seeing kr but it was only 1-2deg most of the time so i risked it. hiting it harder off the line the truck did a hop wich with the caltracs i didn't think it would. i didn't warm the tires at all. i dont really have anything conclusive to report on the caltracs. 10.11 with only a 1.60 60' seems promising. i wonder if i hurt the motor last time i went to the track and that is where the detonation is coming from. i really dont know.
just about out of time for the year and trying to bump this thing into the 9's is turning out to be a big chalange. i am not the type of person to give up easialy but i am about ready to give up. blacksheep geting into the 9's took some of my determination too

That sucks , I know how you feel you bust *** on it just to see little to no gain. I have not even ran the same time I did last year and the track is only open one more Saturday.
I think you will be well into the 9's once you get the issues sorted out.

nope. I only made one more pass, before I had to leave. All of those broken mustangs ate up about 2 hours of track time.
I should have ditched my plans, and stayed a litttle longer. For the last pass, I tried tightening the belt to build more boost, but it was still slipping. I think repinning the idler is my next step.As far off as the tune was, I didn't really want to spray it. I could feel it speed up and slow down as I was going down the track.
I can't wait to see it. It's alot of fun surprising people in a tahoe.

I think I remember you mentioning loosing coolant and not being able to find it in the engine bay.

the truck just loves to run in the 10.30's and 10.20's but any faster and it isn't as happy. i will probably fix it and try and hit the track one more time this year. that is if the weather holds. depending on how busy they are it would be nice to make a few partial runs working on the launch with the caltracs. some smooth low 1.5's would be nice.
