Default 4x4 guys

How are you guys launching with 4x4, do you do boosted launches or stand on it on green and does the ifs take it. Do you change back to 2 after launch. I don't have good tires for the strip ill be running 33 mud tires and 12 or 15 lbs boost. I've been on the drag strip once in 2wd and pretty much sucked. I've dragged in the sand in 4wd but not on pavement I ran 5.4 at 64 mph in 300 ft on sand 12 lbs any ideas for pavement and what you think it will do if it hooks.

I'm slow compared but leave it in 4. I've run it to 110 many times on the street with no probe.

What does strapping the front end down do and how are you doing it, how many lbs where you launching at? I guess I'm just worried about braking a tie rod at a high rate of speed

If your front end lifts too much it'll torque steer and bounce back and forth, not good on parts. With enough torque you can actually bend tie rods. The more level the tie rods and half shafts are when you launch the better. Once you're moving it's not a big deal, the launch is where everything sees the most strain.

Straps do help!

I launch 4wd and swap back to 2wd on the 1-2 shift. By doing so I gain 1mph in the quarter mile. I've launched mine about 75 times in 4wd and haven't broken anything yet in the front of the truck. My truck ET's better if I stall it up to 1,000rpm then floor it when light change. Although I don't have boost I do have cubic inches, all in all its held up well in the 4wd department!

Do you manually swap it into 2wd? Is it in the tune? Very interested on how this is done..

I had auto trac. I punched the button midway after the 1-2 shift at the strip when I wouldn't lose traction.
