Default 4l80e results are in, less than stellar

Well, surprisingly the rain held off today.

Here's the previous best with the stock 60 and stock converter:

60' = 2.168
1/8 = 9.027 @ 79
1/4 = 14.066 @ 96.64

Changes since that time include: 4l80e, Yank 3600, LS1 fans, EFI live, Dynatech 1 3/4 catted open Y pipe to ARH 1 7/8 no cats w/stock catback

Ran it 5 times today resulting in:

15.5@95.52 2.689 60'
14.8@96.21 2.49 60'
14.27@97.81 2.434 60'
14.11@97.52 2.303 60'
14.41@96.79 2.28 60'

So as you can see, I didn't go any faster, but I think that's more a function of traction limitations than anything. The Toyo's just wont go off the line with the Yank hitting hard. I'm looking to put in a cam next weekend, still debating on running the mid 220s cam I have here or stepping up to the 230s like others here. I wouldn't be opposed to the 230s cam, but I don't think it will be worthwhile with the stock truck intake.

Did you air the Toyos down at all? I cut low 1.9s on my Toyos at about 22psi and just enough burnout to clean them off, no water. Bottom line is though, you need slicks.

Your mods are way mismatched it seems... With headers and a converter added you picked up basically no mph.

Ran the tires as I drive it everyday. I tried airing them down last time at the track and it did me no good. I wonder what my race weight is?

Your 60' were way worse. Only 2x did u MPH better. Did ya ever try feathering not puttin the wood to it outta the hole? Cause if ya did, ya as u said, traction is terrible. How was weather? I'm thinkin it was kinda nice but u didn't say.

Why not try workin on some consistency 1st before throwin on a cam? How are ya gonna know your true gains for looks to be $2-3k outlay of cash. That MPH in those 2x showed a bit, but consistency is the key. I was hoping for your sake you'd hit some low times, cause I'd knew u spent some cash & wanted good results. Not tryin to be a rain on the parade, just real.

I'd guess 4750#-5K#. But IDK what yr your truck is. Earlier ones tend to be lighter it seems.

Yeah I tried feathering it but it just doesnt work....when you feather it the trans shifts into 2nd and then when you get traction back you floor it, trans drops back to 1st and then your spinning again.

You gotta remember, 1st gear in this thing runs up to like 50 mph or so.

Yeah, Gateway, opening day today.

Slicks should be soon, just depends how much it all will cost.

If the weather was similar, traction aside, your trap speed should have picked up more...

Why do you say MPH should have gone up more?
