16" wheels on the new dodges
i am wanting to get a set of d/r or slicks for my truck and i cant seem to find a d/r tall enough for 17" wheels. the only thing i can find is a set of slicks the height i am looking for. i have seen 16's on the new dodges and what has to be done to get them on there. will a 15" go?

Goodyer makes a 17" d/r, Dhunckyn had a set on some truck 17" rims. Saved about 35# over the stock 20" combo and cut his 1/4 et's by 0.5 seconds.
They are very short tho, like 28", but again it is for the strip only. He swapped them out at the track.
You are right SRT10, anything under 17" needs caliper modification. Not worth the effort IMHO.

I think you need to shave about a 1/4" from the caliper to get 16's to fit. I've heard you don't really want to go anything shorter then a 28" tall tire, or you could have some shifting problems. I was looking at the 18" nitto DR's but you can't get then in Canada.

i was wanting to something about 28" or 29" tall. and i havent seen a set of d/r that tall for 17s. thats why i was looking into some 16s with slicks or d/r the height i am looking to run. my traction on the street with the 275/55/20 is crap it aint much better at the track.

I looked around on goodyears site, I couldn't find any 17 DR that was 28" tall only 26. What's the deal with tire company's it seems the moment you get to a 17" rim or bigger they make them low profile, yet you can find ton's of 15-16" tires that are 28" or taller.

If you want you can buy a set in the US and I will ship it to you. I bought a set of 18x10 with NT555R's in 305/45/18 rear and 18x8.5 with NT555's in 275/40/18 for the front. I bought them at discounttire.com

I have a pair of the M&H 28" slicks. The only problem I see with them is they are only 8.8" wide. I also have a pair of MT ET Streets. They STICK and are 11" wide BUT they are only 26" tall. I'm thinking I'm going to shave a little off the caliper and go with a 16" Hoosier slick, about 29-30" tall. It all depends on howthe M&H's hook on boost. Maybe the gradual power will hook better. It's the nitrous guys that seem to be having traction probs with the M&H's.
