Hey, buddy of mine has a 04 Ram 1500

He was wondering what mods can be done to make his truck quicker. It's already got *****. I told him CAI, full exhaust, cam, and most importantly a chip.

However, are there any products that do the job better than another.

I know nothing about these trucks, and plan on helping him out with research and any installs

 

I have a Dynomax muffler, Volant CAI and a Superchips tuner, by far the best bang for the buck is the Superchips! Tell him to get it first, it also doesn't let the PCM relearn from the exhaust and CAI mods so it won't try and go back to a stock tune. Exhaust and CAI mods work a first but then the PCM learns the mod and retunes itself back to stock specs, this won't happen with the SC, or so I've been told. Exhaust and CAI will be a personal preference as to how loud he want's it. I like it quiet so the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler and Volant CAI I'm using are perfect for me. Alot of Ram owners are using the AFE CAI and AeroTurbine muffler, both are on the loud side. As far as a cam, several DTW members have installed a 6.1L cam and are quite pleased with it.

Jim covered it all. Those are the best choices at the moment, the aftermarket folks are still working to break the computer encoding so stick with the 6.1L or KRC 220 cam for now else the computer will not like it. Check out the link at the end, they are the best around for modding the Hemi motor. www.krcperformance.com

 

If you plan to go with the krc 220 cam, or any other besides the 6.1 DO NOT GET THE SUPERCHIPS. Why? KRC now can flash your pcm to run the bigger cams and it also installs the superchips functions (increased rev limiter, speed limit increase, etc).
