Exclamation New to me 2008 2500. Looking for info.

Hey guys, just picked up a 2008 2500 Cummins 6.7 I6 turbo diesel. It has 69k miles and a few bumps and scratches, but nothing major. Interior looks good; 8 out of 10 The exterior is pobably 7/10, but inline with a 4 year old tow rig. I didn't get a list of the options and I can't find the RPO code label so I was wondering if you guys could tell me anything based off of the VIN: 3D7KS28A48G212991
Also, let me know anything good/bad or otherwse on this modle.

Thanks!

Sup Hoe...yes I still like saying that. Could not find much on your vin, but I will say those turbos are notorious for failing in an epic fashion. Otherwise its a Cummins, so prepare to be pleased. I have an '05 Ram 3500 with a Smarty Sr, intake and exhaust. Really wakes the truck up. For you, EFI live can have you in rare territory.

On the Cummins forum it seems like everyone does the "deletes" which I think is EGR removal and then something about DPF removal. I have EFI Live, I wonder if I could get a tune file emailed to me to make it fast and easy?

If you have no warranty then the delete is mandatory. To take advantage of efi live, you want a custom tune. You read the link I sen't? That was on an '06 5.9...you have 6.7. You will have a monster. I am trying to sell my truck now, because I either want on '06 or a Duramax, so I too can take advantage of efi live. Its the future. We custom tune our LS's for max hp, same with the Cummins. Find the right tuner and your grin will be epic...right before your trans explodes.

Exactly on the trans exploding. I went ahead and ordered a XRT Pro tuner w/trans tuning, 5" stainless Flo Pro turbo back with resonator (and muffler) to keep it quiet, plus an EGR delete kit. So in theory I should be able to add 120hp safely...according to the guy who sold it to me. He did say not to go tot he 175hp setting and my trans, even with the tuning upgrade, will not last.

Cool

Theory is not quite sound Chris. A stock truck with just the torque management turned off can fail after just a few spirited launches. Luckily for you (or unfortunately) and I, we don't have 4x4, those guys have all the fun, and their launches are amazing. Nothing like seeing an 8,000 lb truck twisting and contorting, trying to get 1000lbtq to the ground through all 4 or 6 wheels. Your truck should be ok for now though, may want to consider a TC and valve body to efficently get that power to the pavement. Lay off the boosted launches, until you are ready to sink $8k into the trans with billet input and output shafts.

I drive this truck pretty easy. I don't want to break my boat puller. I certainly dont want to buy a new trans. Just looking for a little better MPG, better throttle response, and to make it as easy on the truck as possible to pull my boat. By the way, mine is a 4X4

Damn it you do have a 4x4 lol. Well mabye just one boosted launch to see what she can do. EFI live can get you you mpg, as for being easy on the truck, unless your pulling 30k lbs, the 6.7 won't even notice. Now I have to ask, what kind of boat...two seater inboard, with a twin-turbo 6.2 and Champion top end prop?
