Default rear end

My 84 c10 rear end 10bolt is all stock non posi. I just had a 5.3 put in. Wuts the cheapest way to get posi (locker, spool, etc..). I just need this to hold me off for 3months till I order a 12bolt from currie. Also what gears would be ideal for highway yet still good for take off. This is my dd.

I ordered a brand new G80 unit for my truck, was the wrong unit...never sent it back. Anyways, its for a 88-98 trucks but I believe the 84 uses the same unit. $100 plus $25 shipping, its heavy.

as for the gears what size tire and what tranny u have? it will help pick the gear to suit u better. to be honest no need for u to buy a curruie diff save your cash. the 10bolt 8.5" will take the abuse if its set up right, hell seen turbo trucks and big block trucks run them with no problems. plus this is your dd your running steet tires not slicks. i would just get a tru trac the spool will keep the tire locked all times dont want that for a dd.

the tires now are 275/60/17 but in the next few months i will be goin to a more lower size once i do a 2/4 drop. an the trans is a 700r4 i know most u dont care for the 700r4 but this runs wit no probs an i also got a spare 700r4 which is new from my other truk. i would luv a 50/50% gearin good for take off an highway(topend) in august i wil be gettin a "topend kit" from trickflow if that has any play into it. again thanx for any info

with your 30" tire and your 700r4 gearing, with 3.73s youll be spinning about 1900rpm at 65mph, and with 4.10s youl be at 2100rpm 65mph. i would go for the 4.10 but you have to decide what rpms you want to be at.
