Btw, i let it sit overnight after i put that cap on, because it wouldnt start up after i put it on. And it started right up..

This thing is aggravating

Edit: Well i drove it to my cousins house about a street over and let it sit for about an hour and half. And now its not starting...

The hole appears to be used for the wire holder which mounts on top of the coil, do you have the same hole on the other side of the cap??

You may have a bad module, take it out and have it tested at the local auto parts store.

It is starting to sound like the module inside is taking a crap. Had it happen on my old truck. Didn't do exactly what yours is doing but similar

I'm late to the party here but I had a similar issue and my cause was the button between the coil and the cap. One time that rubber insulator got tore up some thing fierce somehow, sometimes it ran sometimes it didn't ... I've also worn that button down to the point that it didn't run ... might be worth looking at.

You can test the coil by doing an ohms test, check google for how to. the carbon brush and rubber bushing can wear out causing the same issue. May just need a good tune-up!

Well I still cant get the truck to start. New reman distributor, new hei coil, and new rotor. Still not firing up. Check all the wires. They are all good. But one thing is its not getting the full 12V when cranking the motor. Has 12V when the key is on but only about 8.2V when cranking it. Whats the deal???

Well shouldnt you be able to push the button with the cap off and coil still attached? Because mine is stiff. Not sure if its suppose to be like that?
