Default No Spark?!?!?

Alrighty, so heres the problem im having. The truck is a 1984 C-10 SWB. Motor is a 307, basically stock with small cam and carb. The problem im having is that whenever it rains and stops, my truck will not start. Sounds like its not getting any spark. Stupid thing is it only happens when it rains. Any clue to why its doing this??

The distributor is obviously getting wet. Rubber hood gasket is probably bad

Yes sir.. Had the same problem with my 94 blazer. I put a piece of sash-cord in mine cuz it had flatten out.

Alright, ill try that out. Well i took off the distributor cap ad rotor and got a heat gun and just kinda went over it for a few minutes, put it all back together and the truck started up. Lol. Man that's dumb. ha

For my mud truck I took permatex and went around the groove in the cap where the distributor sits, and applied a small bead. I used to always have problems hitting the mud wide open and then it shutting down on me bc water was getting inside the cap. After the permatex I've never had a problem since. Might be somethin to try for yours

Also put dielectric grease on the both the spark plug and distributor cap boots. Are you running HEI distributor?

Yes I am. And I forgot about the dielectric grease, I did put it in my wires. Good stuff.

I'm also running HEI. But this is a normal street truck. Shouldn't be having the moisture problems. None of my other friends are having problems. Only me. lol. Its very aggravating.

I just slapped on another cap i had laying around, it was red and had a tiny lil breather hole it looks like right behind the coil. Should i leave it be, or have some kinda hose come outta there??
