Default Need more traction

I'm currently running some Falken Ziex S/Tz04 tires in 245/75r16 on my 1970 Chevy C20 3/4 ton. It has a 396BB, 700r4 with an Eaton HO52 open rear with 4.10 gears.

I find these tires are too narrow for the rear and anytime I want to get on it, they don't hold the power.

I've searched going locking rear, but since it's an Eaton HO52, there is nothing available new, just old used stuff.

So I'm looking at options on a better tire. I was looking at going to a 275/70r16 and also looked at maybe going gown to 15" and loose some tire height, or up to 18" and be able to find more options.

The tire is listed as a section width of 10" but a tread width of only 7.7". What options should I look at for a better traction tire with more tread width.

Plus the truck is on bags so the tires do tuck up in the wheel wells.

Bags aired all the way up and bags all the way down

Oh yeah, it's a summer toy. I do drive it in the rain. I put on maybe 1,000 miles a year or so.

What brand and model tire would be good? I'm kinda flexible on sizes.

I hated those fallen ziex tires I couldn't even get them to hold on the bone stock setup. I swapped to a set of hankook ventus that hook up way better now even with the stroker maybe try a hankook or a toyo tire and check if you have anymore room at all to run a wider tire I'm sure it'll still spin any street tire with that big block and 4.10's

Looking at going from a 245 up to a 275 if I stay 16" wheel, but if I go 18" then I'm going to go 285. I've been searching tires off and on for a coup,e weeks now. Tonight was looking at treadwear to find a good tire with a softer compound.

I'll be adding those to my list to look at. Which Ventus did you go with? I see more than one kind of Ventus.
