Ok, everywhere I search there is tons of info on newer 99+ trucks. Where is the old school love??
I have a 98 that I am wanting to do a few things to, I don't want to get out of control with it since it is my DD and in a few years I will most likely be getting a new truck.
First thing, I want to put some electric fans on it. I have been looking at some LS1/LT1 fans since I can get them cheap (used to be a Fbody guy so have hookups everywhere). Who has put them on a 98 or older 5.7? How did you mount them and what wiring harness did you use?
Second, I have heard a lot about a vette servo and HD2 shift kit. My truck has 118,000 miles on it and I was thinking about doing these mods. Would it be asking for trouble with my tranny or would it be ok?
Hopefully there are some oldschool guys on here that can chime in, thanks!

I had a 98 5.7 silverado ext cab and did those same mods for the fans i just went with some dual 16's from Advance Auto and 180 T-stat, worked great the fans flowed alot of air and the factory 34" radiator in the obs trucks work really good there pretty thick and dont need much air flow to keep cool. I wired mine in parallel to a relay and had got the on signal from the fuel pump circuit but any key on power source will work. For the trans part i would put the servo and shift kit in it will actually help out your trans and keep it running longer cuz of less slip. but remember if you have a tuned in shift kit make sure to get it removed before the HD2 i made that mistake once lol just cruising the truck would chirp the tires and almost break your neck......fun but couldnt be good for the truck lol
Heres the way i mounted and wired my fans on my 01 pretty much the same way i had my 98 and same fans too.......
