Looking in to the mid 70s to mid 80s silverado. Swaping in a 5.3 with 4l60e.

Read a lot of other builds and seems simple. The one question i have yet to find the answer for is the transmission shifter conversion (3 speed auto column shift to the 4 speed 4l60e).

Is it just easyer to put say a B&M floor shifter in or are most people swapping to a new style steering column capable of the 4 speed 4l60e?

Any links, threads, comments, or ideas would be extremly appreciated.

FYI i have yet to commit to any thing. Still in the research and planning phase. I realy would hate to be turned off by somthing simple like a shifter.

Those trucks also had 700R4 transmissions, which are basically a mechanical non-computer controlled version of the 4l60E. It should be a simple adjustment procedure and you're done
