Default 58 chevy apache

Hey guys! Long time I haven't been around. Life is great. I have a friend searching for a stock engine replacement for her '58 Apache. Bad *** roller needs power.

Where's a good source for a clean longblock/transmission? Was the 350 in them back then? How about 4-speed manual transmission?

Nothing super high performance, stock would be good for starts.

Yeah, it's a really straight body too. Definitley worth restoring. Any ideas where she can get a good deal on engine/trans?

lol. no idea, are you wanting a original, or just a carbed 350, I'd like to see an LS in it.

It's for a friend, she wants original. If it was me I'd stick a Blown LS in it

I'll have to give my grand paw a call, he has a 100% original 53 with the same straight 6 and carb put on by the factory. but I'm sure he knows somebody that can get a original block.

GOD i love classic chevys

I'd like to take this opportunity to ***** out my grandpaws truck a bit

For a 58 an original engine would either be the 283 small block v8 or the 235 inline six. The 350 would physically be the same shape and would be a logical choice for power as they are cheap and common but it did not exist then.

You should be able to dress out a 350 to make it appear like the old 283 to the naked eye. It has been done many times.

Inline-6 can be cool for a street cruiser.
