5.3 swap into a 84 chevy

Default 5.3 swap into a 84 chevy

we put a 5.3 out of a 03 suburban in my buddies 84 chevy before we pulled it out of the rolled suburban it would run and idle but would not rev (its fly by wire) installed it in the 84 and its doing the same thing. so far we have replaced the pedal assembly the throttle body and the tach module...please someone help us get this truck going thanks

if it starts pissing you off, you might want to consider switching to a cable driven throttlebody!

to switch i think you need a cable driven harness, PCM, cable, and throttle body.

Can you get any codes out of the computer? They might help. Also check each wire going into the plug on the throttle body. The wires are known to break inside of the insulation. You can't tell by looking at them. Tug on each wire individually to see if it will pull apart. I've found several with this problem. GM sells a new pigtail and they probably have them in stock.

cable throttle body is your best option. thats what i did.

i had the exact same problem with my 6.0 swap in my 69 c10. it was a 04 motor with 99 5.3 electronics(cable tb) i couldnt figure it out then i did a write entire with my hp tuners. solved the problem. if you have hp or efi, i would try it. just my $.02 heres a vid of what it did. wouldnt rev above 1200 rpm
