Default 5.3 Heads?

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1993 RCSB and I am starting to think about the engine. I have a 5.3 that will get freshened up. I have plans for a supercharger and I am wondering about the heads. Will the stock heads work fine or will I need to do a little work on those also. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Stock LS heads are amazing for flow. They would work fine, but wouldn't hurt to have them hogged out a little to breath some more for your supercharger.

I thought about that. I"ll have to look in to it. There are so many things that needs to be done. It's almost overwhelming. Heads, cam, Double roller, lifters (maybe). I like to see what I could do with my stock heads before I start looking for aftermarket heads.

Stock 799/243 heads are great. 243's are what came on the 405 horse LS6 Z06 Corvette. They came on 6.0 GTO's also(with different valves) and the 799's were the truck heads on the 5.3 H.O.(same castings, different springs and valves)

I have asked several people and they say the same as you good folks say. "Stock heads are good!" I guess I will get them re-worked and p&p if I can find someone that will do it.

What would be the advantage of the 799/243 heads over my stock heads? I'll have to look at the number on the heads to be sure as to what I have. Also will these be a direct fit bolt on and run? Thanks again for the help.

Cathedral ports and 64 cc combustion chambers. Yes they are direct bolt on. I have a set of 799's for sale if you are interested.

My heads are the 706. Don't know if it's true or not but I heard that the 706's may leak over time. LMK what you want for your 799's
