I am back working on this!
I moved and had another garage that needed a roof...so a roof later I have a place to work on ol 50!

My goal is to get-er-done. not a show truck. need a simple truck to beat on and use.

I think I will need to swap to a LS1 oil pan to get real low.

Any tips or suggestions that will help me organize getting this done?

Didn't even know you had a old 50' chevy! Looks like a really cool project, as far as a oil pan I was looking in the gm performance catalog the other day and they sell a muscle car LS engine swap pan ($169 I think). I think it would have pretty good ground clearance I would guess. Anyway good luck on the build!
