Are you ever going to step up to a longtube header? I was going to run C5 Z06 manifolds at first but went long tubes. Reason I ask is I think now would be the time to get them in for mock up. Mine went in real easy. Needed to notch a little on the pass side frame rail.

Another thing I did was flip the valve covers. LSX motors have a tuff time with oil consumption due to crank case pressure pushing oil in to the TB. With a breather on the rear you might oil down the back of your block. But make sure the oil fill isn't too close to the firewall. Mine is real close.

You might want to conside fabbing your own motor mounts if it is that far off. I did that to get mine the height/distance I wanted.

Also, didtch that truck pan if your going low. You'll get and at least 1" extra from an F-fody pan. Mine sit's about 6" off the ground, 2" bellow the crossmember. It's probably 5" lower in the front than stock.

Also you might be better off buying a used uncut harness. Or find a pin out for your year harness and have patients soldering and shrink tubing. Being that it is cut, you can add wire and put the PCM anywhere you want. LS1texh conversion section is a good spot to look for that.

Hell, maybe I put up a couple stickies here with direct links to some of that for others. Things I found usefull ect..

LiLSS Thanks for a post I found where you dug up the trans wiring stuff!

I have been telling myseldf how much oil these engines use, when I pulled the intake it was covered in oil. I am going to run a cheap-o catch can, I want to mod my old stock oil filter into one, that would look cool, I'll post some pics so people can get the idea.

I want to see if when I reposition the motor if the stock manifolds, then I will try some used shorties...then if all else fails then I will get some pacesetters.

YOur oil pan is lower than your crossmember?? I am raising my engine so that I can get it above the crossmember or close to even.

For the harness, I am looking and learning! I want to do it myself, but speartech will rework a harness for $500 that is a deal. I am a ways off before I have to start figuring wires...I still have to mock the frame, engine and cab to make sure the cab will sit down on the frame.

I post here, LS1tech, silveradoss, 47-59 chevy truck and LS1truck and these site are filled with great people and information!

Default Update 4-21

I am getting motivated again. My wife had our fourth son 4/21/07-william. So I have been distracted. I kind of figureed out my trans, traded w/a guy of craigslist.. Kept the AWD transfercase as a spare for the SSS.

You can see my homemade motor mounts, made with a stick welder and a grinder
now I can weld up the transcross member.
How much angle should I have in the engine?? Any way to measure it w/o an angle tool?

looks like a great start for a project. . . . too bad that they cut your harness and broke that vacuum line in the back

Default update aug 2007

I made the mounts, use some other ones as a model and made the ones I needs to lift/push the motor into place. I set a block of wood under the pan between the crossmember and cut the mounts that length. I also set the motor far enought back to keep the manual fan-IMO will keep it looking less new than using efans.
I sectioned the floor a bit to bend it to clear the trans but it is real good, need to get some pic, I could sell my mounts
update july/august.

real dont know what to do next?? any suggestions? I am going to pull the cab back off and start the floors and frame mounts so it can bolt up to the frame. I have a bunch of other stuff, fuel tank brakes, plumbing. Anybody know good places that sell kits to get the entire project done at one time?
