Default What is a good programmer for a 04' 8.1L

Hey guys, ive got a 04' 2500HD with the 8.1L and im new to the forums. My question is, what programmer or chip should i use for overall proformance? Im looking to get in the 700 range at the wheels. Ive looked at some kits from Raylar and im thinking about getting the 650HP package (stage 3 i think). My truck is all bone stock other than the lift, K&N system (not cold air), and flowmaster. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

A dyno tune is the way to go, especially for that hp range. A cam change and a turbo will get you there.

You need to hit up Raylar performance.

700 at the wheels? Well, thats a far cry from your stock output of 250hp/350ft-lbs at the tires. Like all go fast parts, its really just a question of how much money you want to spend.

Assuming you're running an Allison or 4L80E, you'll need to be putting out about 1000-1100hp at the crank, which means you're looking at a pretty healthy dose of boost as well as all the right parts to support it.

You'll basically be looking at the stage 3 truck package, but with CNC extreme heads and a forged 540cid stock block stroker kit to get up around 700hp crank.

Past that, a pair of 65mm intercooled turbos running about 10-14 psi should get you to the place you need to be.

As for tuning, no hand held programmer will work for a motor with this many modifications. Hand held tuners are really only designed for intake, headers & exhaust mods. Past that, you're asking an awful lot of a box that modifies fuel trims. You'll want to find a dyno tuner who specializes in blown BBC engines for a project on this level.
