Noyzee,
You'd be donating a solid chuck of change to PPE if you elect not to use HPT to tune your truck.
Their suite has all the functionality you'll need to to go as far or further than the current PPE offering. Plus it won't cost you an extra 900 dollars.
I have quite a bit of experience writing calibrations on these trucks
,
Nick

My Suggestion would be go with a DPF back exhaust and a replacement pipe. Same effect and if you need to put it back on for warrenty you can without changing the entire exhaust.
I love my PPE --- Its easy to use. I had HP Tuners as well and sold it the other day. Im not looking to race mine --- just some light towing and fuel mileage.
Also pull your air box out and take the tornado looking thing out of the end and toss it in the trash (Some people cut it out and put the ring back in). If will flow as good as any CAI.

I would talk to Nick, (VORTECFCAR) he will help you use, or set you up with a tune that you can use your HPT to load that will fit your needs perfectly. He is a very helpful guy and well respected on the diesel boards.
If you start playing with your diesel, you will find out they are WAY easier to tune then gas motor and you can make any kind of power you want.
I picked up diesel tuning pretty quick. Basically on them, you add fuel, boost and timing and whalla, it makes **** loads of power, lol. I LOVE tuning on diesels. You really get some instant gratification

I just thought you should know that the new D-Max's come with a "tattle-tail" in the computer. In other words, it use to be that when you needed to take your truck to the dealership, you would program it back to stock, get the truck serviced under warranty, get back home and re-program it. No harm, no foul. Not anymore. When they plug ur truck in now(08+LMM), it will tell them that an outside computer was in there. So if anything breaks, and they can prove the programmer done it, u will have to pay for it. Best option I have seen so far is that you can talk to some vendors on here or dieselplace.com about a custom tune from EFI Live on a second ECM. They will load the tune and ship it to you. This way you can change out the ECM for service needs. They can tell if there has been a tuner on the ECM. But this way they can not see it. All they can see is that some things are not recorded.
