Just curious what the IAT's are on diesels? With high boost do they go way up? Does a high IAT have as much negative effect on performance like it would on a gas engine?

 

on both my buddies Dmax the IATs while cruising are about 5* above ambient, but once they stop the IATs rise pretty quick and stop about 130*
Last time i checked i think from a 50-110 run it was *95 outside and the IATs were about 140 or so when we got to 110.... ill have to double check though..

I went to the track last tuesday & logged my runs down the strip, IATs were in the 115-120 range & it was 80-90 outside air temp. I had my headlight removed and the temps droppped only a few degrees at the top end of the track. Of coarse Im pretty sure the IAT temps are read at the MAF befeore they go through the turbo/intercooler

 

that makes a huge difference!
