engine oil temps

Just wondering about the efficiency of the stock (in radiator) oil coolers. When i installed the Dmax radiator, i had to install an external EOC because the DMax radiators have no oil cooler in them. I bought a B&M 24,000gvw oil cooler and installed it in the front of the stack, just below my tranny cooler, it gets a good flow of air from the lower section of the grill and from the factory cutouts in the bumper.......

Since I have no way to measure the temps of my oil, i was wondering if this B&M cooler is working as well as the ones in the radiators? Any thoughts? I kept the 1/2" I.D consistant, using 1/2" I.D oil lines and fittings so there is no flow restriction.

My EOT is typically around 170-180F during highway cruising. (0w30 Mobil 1, using 5w30 its higher around 180-195F) After running the engine hard for a few minutes it will climb in excess of 220-240F.
For Reference, the oil temp in my C6, crusing it stays around 215F, granted airflow isnt a corvette's greatest attribute.
One of the things i would love to know, is what the Power Steering temperature on these trucks run at... I look at the tiny little cooler and just shake my head.

I would think you could put an electric temp sending unit right in the line and run a guage off it to get your EOT... then just mount it in the cab wherever. I am sure your setup will cool better than stock though.

Here is a great writeup about what is the most well thought out oil cooler solution I have seen.

The oil tanks in the rad are there to heat up the oil quickly as well as to cool. They dont work all that well.
