I just bought a 06 2500HD with the LBZ and the allison 6speed, what are the pro's and con's of blocking the EGR?

Interested in this as well, is there anything already done to your ride?

Is it the 6.0L? I just deleted mine when I did my intake swap and haven't had a problem so far. Just a check engine lite. waiting for my mail order retune to arrive. It does keep the hot exhaust gasses out of the engine so that has to be a plus.

It's the 6.6 Duramax. It's stock. The original owner was a older guy so it was left alone. I was looking at the EGR blockoff plate and the "Finger Stick" from Duramax Performance, for $55.00. Any one use this?

I know this is almost 4 months old but did you get your question figured out? I just did this same thing last week and may be able to offer some advice.

I did the EGR delete on my 06 duramax with my EFI live. I would recommend doing the delete through the EFI live. Its pricey but WELL worth it. I now get 22+ MPG and it hauls a$$ for being a almost stock truck.

As far as just doing the EGR delete, I dont see any major benefits. I could be wrong but just my 2 cents

Efi is my next step. It is actually a lot better for your motor health and keeps your intercooler piping and oil cleaner. I replaced my turbo last weekend and you wouldnt believe the crud that goes the egr. You know all the black soot? Yeah that goes back into your motor.
