duramax fuel issue
2006 LBZ duramax...
so ive had this truck for a few months and ever since i got it the fuel gauge doesnt work properly, it takes forever to read "full" once i fill up the tank, like sometimes up to a day or two, and iwhen its on E i dont think its actually empty since most of the time i only put in 18-20 gallons.... but the main issue is if the truck is parked on an incline with the front of the truck on the up hill side it can be VERY hard to start amd a lot of times it will fire up as normal but then will die 10 or so seconds after it started then i have to roll it down the hill until im on level ground and crank it for probably 15-20 seconds until it will fire.....
i dont know the first thing about these diesel fuel systems but it seems to me like there might be some sort of in tank pump thats going bad or something along those lines...?
any help is greatly appreciated!!!

There's no fuel pump in the tank. Stock is a suction system, just the CP3. Has an aftermarket lift pump been added? They are usually on the left frame rail, near the tank & fuel cooler.
Some lift pumps won't allow fuel to pass through them if the pump dies. Could be something like that, or an air leak like previously posted.

No lift pump that I've seen so far, I haven't looked real hard for one though. Ill make sure there isn't one when I check the filter.
So y'all think the fuel starving and fuel gauge issues are unrelated?

it realy doesnt seem like a stepper motor issue, it acts like the sending unit is whats the issue, which is why i thought there might be an in tank pump that was also an issue...

No lift pump... And where is the damn filter on this thing?!? I'd think I'd he able to see a filter as big as these are but apparently not....?
