Cluster ?s
#1
My instrument cluster went out, second time. Now there is no warranty. I have a chance to buy one out of a Escalade for $120.00. He said he had it in his DuraMax Chevy but did not re-program it for the truck.
I was under the impression that the cluster had to be programed for each vehicle due to tire size, gas tank size, rearend ratio, ect...
Has any body changed out theirs and what did you do?

Clusters only need to be programmed for mileage and hours so that it matches your current mileage and engine hours, but is not necessary to make the cluster work. All of the other data is sent from the PCM via Class 2 Serial Data.

ooh, i know of a problem with the odometer/gear selecter display thats common. one of the pins has a bad solder job on the back, by adding solder it will fix the odometer/gear display... not sure about the rest, could be due to the same bad solder connections?
