Cam and no converter..
#1
Alright, so here's the deal. Talking to Martin over at Tick now, he's figured out a cam for my build. It will be going into my turbo build, but plan on putting it into my N/A motor for now just to run around with some lope and more power! I'm not sure on how big it'll be, no lift or duration numbers or anything, just wanna learn more about this: Is it aboslutely necessary to run a higher stall with a cam, or is it just a racing thing? That's a lot more money to throw at the build right now that I wasn't looking forward to, haha. It's my daily driver and sees a lot of stop and go, and from what I understand the 4L80 has a higher stall already, so what's y'all's input?

What are the specs on your truck. Is it your 2001 2500? Im guessing 6.0 with it being hd and 4l80.Makes a difference if its a single cab or 4 door. And 2wd or 4wd. And gear and tire size.

Yeah it's the big rig. 2001 Sierra 2500 HD, four wheel drive, LQ4, 4L80, 3.73 gears with "35" inch Toyo's, really measure out to be 33's. I plan on going to 4.56's soon though. Crew cab. Weighed in at 6,800 on the scrapyard scales.

There's plenty of activity here trust me! We just don't like to be redundant.
But like Txblue said, you'll be fine. But an aftermarket converter will drastically improve how well it runs.

he nailed it. And how well it runs in every way. Better manners (as long as the converter isnt too loose), and much better performance.
