99-00 was the iron heads. So look for a late 2000 and up part out or how ever you want to find them.

So pretty much ANY aluminum head from '01 and up should do? Stupid GM changed stuff around so much it's hard to keep up with what is what. I need a shopping list of what head is on what and what years....😡

Ok, so I think I'm understanding more about GM and their craziness. I'm actually looking now at a '02 LQ4 that has the 317 heads. Its in pieces right now. Machine work done on block, everything cleaned and ready for assembly. I think I might just buy that, assemble it with new TSP cam, springs, pushrods etc, that way when I pull the old engine I can just drop the rebuilt one in and have minimal downtime.

Probably better way to go just make sure you get a flexplate and adaptor for it.... Not sure if your flexplate will work with an adaptor or not...

Both motors are in front of 4L80e trannys. I thought my motor in the '00 was the only one that had a flex plate with an adapter? I thought the newer ones mated up directly?

You have that backwards, the early 6.0s with cast heads mate directly to 4l80 after they started putting the 6.0 in escalades and denalis they changed the crank to mate to a 4l60 and when mated to a 4l80 they had an adaptor and different flexplate...

Well that sux. They actually changed the crank so I can't even swap MY flex plate onto the other motor and stab it back in.....I better make sure this other one has the flex plate and adapter then. Thanks for the info once again.....
