Default Brake Upgrades for '00 Suburban 2500?

Looking to upgrade the brakes on my '00 Suburban 2500 4x4 6.0. Not looking for the big brake kits, just what can I bolt on using the factory setup for much better braking while towing-rotors and pads?

My current brakes really suck when towing, they heat up way too fast and are badly warped.

Does it have disks out back?

I would look into if you have a problem with your system. You may need to have the rotors cut or replaced, and just install new replacmen pads. They brakes should be able to handle most any tow job unless you are in the mountains or have an issue.

Yep, disc's in the back. I do tow in the mountains of TN a fair amount. Brakes were really bad coming down a 8% grade for 4 miles about a month ago, even with the trans. geared down to help with braking.

Stainless braided brake lines. Maybe slotted rotors. Drilled rotors don't last as long. Does your truck have hydroboost already? if not that is the best upgrade.

Pull your front wheels and look at the factory brake line clips and make sure they are not pinching them I found that was a problem with mine

As for up grades by good rotors and ebc yellow stuff pads they are pricey but its a noticeable difference I pull a 10k trailer and it will stop it in a hurry and works alsome without a trailer too

I will say it sounds like you need to check your trailer brakes out because it sounds like the trailer isn't braking if you have to reduce gear and it still is taxing your brakes

I'll check that stuff. Trailer brakes work great and it has brakes on both axles.
