Got a buddy with an '11 and a buddy with an '08. Can't tune the '11 with efi live but has good towing power from the factory.

Buddy with the '08 tunes his with efi live and has done whatever mods people do to the duramax's. Got rid of the dpf and muffler etc and gets like 20+mpg with big wheels and tires.

Pulled his 28' enclosed trailer with race car in it last year and got like 14mpg or something stupid while the '11 pulled a 28' enclosed with a race car and got like 10 or less.

The reason the 07' and earlier Dmax get better MPG than the 07.5 up' Dmax is the damn DPF ( diesel particulate filter) exhaust and regeneration cycles on the 07.5 up models.

Tare that Fkn **** off, straight pipe it and tune it and enjoy your MPG and performance again.

Regen cycles cause the engine to hold high RPM's to " burn out" the soot in the DPF, this uses fuel which leads to poor MPG.

Fkn govt regulations!!

BTW , PPE and EFI Live are working on support for the 11' models tuning wise, not sure when or if yet.

Yes you will. I'm pretty sure all the NNBS diesels have this problem... thats why they have that stupid musket lookin exhaust tip.

If you can afford the 11 I'd go for it... those power numbers from the factory are very impressive, plus I think the truck is slightly more beefy and better looking.

False. You can remove the dpf and muffler and tune them all the way up to 2010. 2011 is not supported by efi live because they can't read the computer.

When did Efi say they were going to support the lml? Last i read they said never due to the way it will be tuned would be breaking a copyright or something.

I was Talking a while back with Mike L. , and he said that Guy Tripp was trying to help out with this issue w/ EFI Live, this was last year though, and i havent been trolling the diesel sites lately.

I would have thought by now it would have happened, but im sure someday it will.

I would get an LBZ or older (early 07) or older jsut cause i wouldnt wanna deal with a dpf and all the emmisions nonsense and they get better milage but thats just me
I have a LLY and love it I think the LBZ is the most powerfull and best pre emmisons engine but the LB7 sounds the sweetest with the non vgt turbo thats just my 2 cents
