Default 04.5 Duramax Intake/Turbo Back/Edge good start?

OK im looking to pick this up this week

Now some mods i want to do good or bad?

The truck has the edge programmer so i think thats ok.

Im looking to do a 5 or 6 inch turbo back from MBRP. That a ok set up?? Hopefully wont be crazy loud

Only other mod i would do is a K&N cold air intake.

Any other suggestions please post em up guys

I like the Edge. Does it have the "Attitude" moniter? It makes a nice package. I know there are others that make more power, but Edge does watch for trans slip, and backs down if it sees slip. MBRP is very good quality, it is quite a bit louder. Can't go wrong with the K&N. Make sure you can moniter EGT's.

Nice looking truck! Good luck.

Nice truck! Turbo back kits really arent that loud on duramaxs. Would be a good idea to get a pyrometer tho. Look into an aftermarke turbo downpipe too. What are your plans for this truck? occasional racer, cruiser....

My neighbors HATED my Duramax with MBRP on the early morning warmups. Of course, they were trying to sleep. And I turned on my fast idle for a fast warmup in the winter.

The edge kits are cool, all d-maxs I work on seem to have them and the K and N set ups or the AFE magnum force. Stay away from metal intake tube set ups, they cause intake air temp codes and have on about 3 customers vehicles. The trucks get pretty loud with an aftermarket down pipe and the MBRP exhaust.

I wouldn't go with K&N as it has the worst flow for aftermarket air cleaners. I went with the AFE 2 intake...very nice set up and easy to do. I would do some gauges also, at least an EGT. MBRP makes good products but I don't know about sound.

I have an 04.5 dmax also. I went with the PPE +2 hot but am looking into the moonshine tunes.

Get the LBZ intake mouthpiece and run an LBZ AFE Stage II, best bang for the buck, there arent any 6" kits, a 5" would be fine but unless you're going to really crank it up a 4" will be fine and a bit quieter. As far as the edge it depends on what all they have installed. Hopefully they have the EGT probe on there. Id just just run a nice EFI tow tune in it and call it good. Definitely throw a transgo jr in the trans to help it out.
