i have a 03 6L that i want to use as a base for this motor. what would you do to the motor? cam? forged rods, pistons? what brand? this would deffently have to be a buget build $2-2500 limit for the long block.
i figure 10psi should be good enough to stay away from belt slip issues, and heat problems. and if i feel the need for more power i will spray a 75 shot.
i figure i would spin the motor up to 6k max and just try and make as much power up till then.
how would you build this motor and why?

If I had to rebuild my LQ4 for MP122 duty, I'd use Eagle H-beam rods, forged pistons, and use the stock crank. Aim for about 10:1 c/r. I like the LS6 cam and high lift rocker arms that I'm using now. That won't change. I might port the heads a little, but that would be out of your price range. I'm at 9psi (2.8" blower pulley) on my stock short block LQ4. I'm hoping it will last a while longer. I have a 75 shot on it, but use it only at the track.

Probe 6.125 4340 I-Beam Connecting Rods
Probe Forged Flat Top Pistons -3cc reliefs
Federal Mogal Main/Rod Bearings
Stock Cam Bearings
ARP Main Stud kit part#234-5608
springs/titanium retainers/stock locks
GM MLS Head gaskets
Melling oil pump 10296 w/ blue spring.
I'd get a Custom Cam but a GT2-3 would also work.

I would contact local engine builders and see what they are willing to do, get some estimates, make sure they know what they're doing, make sure they are reputable. Anyone not local to you would obviously add shipping $$.
