Fan with intercooler
Does anybody run a small electric fan on their air to air intercooler? An air to water one would be nice, but I really don't wanna have to customize one or spend an arm and leg on one so I'm thinking an air to air with a fan on the back side would keep the IATs down pretty decent in the Texas heat. The intercooler will probably be mounted where the stock skid plate is at the front of the engine under the radiator at an angle with shrouds to direct airflow into it. Anybody try this?
Thanks guys.

You get crappy airflow down where the skidplate is, there is a lot of backpressure coming from the engine bay on the backside of the radiator. I've tried mounting coolers down there before and even with forced airflow it just recirculated enginebay air.
It would take custom ducting to draw and remove air in a fashion that would encourage dynamic airflow as you drive.

The intercooler get most of its cooling from the turbo blowing through it when your not in boost. It's basically just a big heat sink and only absorbing a lot of heat when your in high boost, which isn't very often or for very long. The rest of the time, it's just chilling at about ambient air temp, lol. It's not like an engine or transmission that's always generating heat and looking for a place to dissipate that heat.
