Default Front Limit Straps

Hey guys, the Dodge section is dead here, so I figured I would post this here instead. I have a 2011 Ram, and while testing the nitrous last weekend, actually pulled the front tires a bit on the launch. The truck was hopping all over the place on the launch because of this, so I'm thinking about installing limit straps up front. Doing some research here, I'm only seeing the 4wd guys do this. Are any of the 2wd Chevy/GM guys using straps to keep the front end down?

You want your frotn to be able to lift to help plant the rear end.

What do you mean by hopping? Are you sure thats due to the front lifting or is the rear lifting and causing a loss of traction?

The front of my truck lifts too high causing it to come back down, then lift again, then come back down and lift a 3rd time before finally going straight. I had some wheel hop in the rear as well, but was on a radial tire. I put a set of true slicks on it this week to hopefully cure the wheel hop out back, but I'm thinking that limiting the amount of front end travel will keep the front down and prevent it from bouncing as much on the launch.

I have adjustable coilovers in the rear and adjustable QA1 shocks up front. I have already stiffened up both the front and rear to help control the amount of lift, but I was just curious at what point any of you guys may have had to actually use straps to keep it under control. I havent had a chance to test the new shock settings yet. On that particular pass, the truck cut a 1.50 60' time even with it bouncing like it was. I think the truck has a 1.46-1.48 in it if I can make it go forward instead of up and down.

You need good double adjustables

QA1s are chinese

Get some AFCO doubles and you wont need limiting straps

Thanks. I will be converting the front to double adjustable coilovers as well, so I hate to spend any more on another set of adjustable shocks right now. Straps are cheap and easy, so I figured they would be worth a shot before doing the coilover conversion up front.

Last week was my first trip on the bottle, so I am just getting started on trying to dial this thing in. The truck was cutting consistent 1.57-1.59 60' times N/A without any wheel hop or bounce in the front, but that was a different story on the bottle.

If I can control the bounce with the shocks instead of straps, then I would rather go that route.

Straps will hurt you...you dont want to stop front end travel but slow down the rate it rises and settles...this is wjy a double adjustable is more important up front then as in rear

Yes George is right, You need to slow down the rate in the rear to prevent the "hoping" from the suspension traveling back up so fast.

You need a good shock, not a limiter.
