Default Bigger tire.... need a better gear? Ready.... and.... GO

Ok so the "In a nutshell" of this situation is this. My tires were quickly turning into slicks and I was told to get tread or I'd be pulled off the road (I deliver). So I went a searching and found a used set of rim and rubber way cheaper than a set of new tires so I bought em. My stock tire was 245 75 16 and the new ones are 265 70 17. The Hoe is really kind of ******* off the line. Could an inch and a half really make this much difference? In any case I believe I'm going to re gear from my stock 3.43's. What would be best? 3.73, 3.91, 4.11? Half my driving is interstate speed or better. I need some more giddy up

I run 285/45/22's and have 4:10 gears and it's perfect I did lose a 1-2 miles mpg on the interstate. Your new wheel and tire package is probably heavier this also doesn't help.

If it was an around town primarily vehicle I wish I would of put 4:30's or 4:56's

IMO 3.73s won't be worth it, 3.90s would be a good compromise between 4.10s & 3.73s

I have 275/55-20 on stock Tahoe 20s. I swapped from 3.42 to 3.90 and picked up mileage all around. Highway mileage increased below 80mph about 85 it dropped a little bit.

3.90's are starting to look good. Height wise mine are 31.6 and yours gamble are 31.9. Now to find them for a good price. Ugh, This is gonna blow

imo it would be cheaper to get a smaller tire.

i had 265/70/17 on my truck with 3.73 and it was ok but would need to down shift up hills. now im on 265/65/17 and its perfect.

for highway driving i would do Michelin LTX M/S2 or handkook RH12

150 a tire vs 156 for the ring and pinion from summit. I can install it myself so there wont be a shop charging me just a case of beer and a couple pizzas for my dads buddy to give me a hand. I tried to post to the wtb section and it didnt let me, So I posted to the general performance and it got pulled. Just wish SOMEONE had a 3.90 that I could put my hands on for cheap... only time will tell...

well if that's the case then go ahead and re-gear.

i would say go 4.10 would be easier to get and at 70 you would be spinning about 2140rpm vs 3.90 at 2040rpm
