Default Torque Converter Install Issues

This is now the second torque converter I've bought and tried to install, only to find out its about 3/4 of an inch to long, I'm pretty certain i have a 4l60e and 5.3 both out of a 2002 tahoe, they were swapped into the truck by the previous owner, i'm just trying to install a stall converter and this is really starting to **** me off, what am i not getting here?

Not sure man. Don't recall either of my trucks with 4l60 ('99 or '08) converters not having a flush nose. Can you snap a picture of the passenger side of the trans and a pic of the flexplate?

Does the transmission have a removable bell housing????

I'm going to venture out and say they left the original trans in and only swapped the motor.

I believe you need the torque converter for the 1996 one piece 4l60E trans your using with your 5.3 engine.

thanks for all the replies, yes i have a one piece trans case, was not aware this was even a thing before ordering, tried explaining my issue i had with another converter i bought to Circle D when i was ordering this one to ensure this didn't happen a second time but here we are. I bought this truck with the swap already done so i assumed the trans was also out of a 2002 Tahoe like the motor, i was wrong.

Sounds like you have the original trans still, what we call a 4L60 LT model. We can custom make you a converter that will fit the earlier transmission and bolt to a LS motor. We can do it in our HP series in about a 2500 stall with the 298mm option. Or we can do it in any stall range with our Pro series. You can send in the 278mm converter and use it for credit towards the new one. Sorry for all the confusion....
