Well the event was fun, have to admit that it's more of a competitor's sport rather than a spectators sport. The event organizers keep the crowd well away from the actual race so most people just see the cars on decel and don't actually get to hear them at full bore.
Edwards air force base has some really really long runways that are killer!! We were told last week that someone died unfortunetly and the base was looking at the event closely to see if they would allow these types of events to continue. The fatality occurred because the person kept going past the finish line and ran off the runway and into the brush.
Anyways, saw a ton off really cool cars:
Bugatti Veryron - 201 mph
Hefner GT40 - 217 mph
A cup car/NASCAR - 207 mph
Three different ZR1's
A half dozen Z06
Couple Vipers
Some classic muscle cars
And an assortment of other cars
My first run was a qualifying/tech run which I was asked to stay between 100-150 so I cruised across the traps at 116mph. Didn't realize how long that mile is, I felt like I was on a freeway on cruise control.
Got re-qualified for 170mph and went out to do my second pass; I was 80% throttle most of the time and my AFR's were around 12.2 - 13.5. I didn't look at the boost but the truck didn't feel like it was at full power. Trans tried to shift into 4th/OD about 100 feet before the traps but I let off. Crossed the traps at 147.6. Got back to the pits and found that my meth wasn't turning on when commanded. Might be a bad map Sensor or the controller that was what was responsible for the high AFR's.
Went out for the third run and held down the meth 'test' button the whole run to band aid the problem. Wasn't ideal since I only had one hand the steer with but better than blowing up my engine. Lol. Third run was WOT from 2nd gear on and crossed the traps at 150mph right when the truck again tried to shift into 4th again. I looked at the boost gauge and saw that I was only making 11lbs and it felt like I had a miss as well. So pulled into the pits and by then it was missing bad. Checked all the wiring out and decided to call it a day. Loaded everything up and at the last second I double checked something and found a plug wire that was so close to the headers that it was arc'ing across. Pulled it off and zip tied it out of the way and was back on all 8. Also turned the boost up and went back to the staging lines for another run.
Fourth run was FUN. It was finally making power and it was all over the place even at 70-80mph. Was still steering with one hand but that runway is so wide that it was ok. I hit 150mph by the half mile and then...wouldn't shift into 4th/OD. So I basically coasted passed the traps at 150.
So I'm gonna re-gear it for the September event and see if I can't get to that stupid 170mph run.

Lol 3.08's would be ridiculous, I could probably hit 2xx+ mph if I did that. I'm gonna out some 3.42's in there's and up my tire size to 30.5 and that should out me at 170mph at the top of 3rd gear.
Yeah, no kidding. I melted some wires and my inner fender is just absolutely gone due to it melting. I'm doing some extra header and wrap and heat shields this week to keep it from doing it again.
Dave is thinking about going but he probably won't be bringing his truck. I've got some pictures and will try to load them later. I wasn't able to take any video because the go pro that we had was not charged.
I also should note that I changed out my exhaust manifold gaskets today on both sides and I was leaking out of 6...thats right SIX OF THE CYLINDERS!! I'm gonna post a picture of the head gasket later...it was blown right through!!
