I have a question for you guys that have LT headers with cats. I will be installing my Pacesetters with cats, and wanted to know if anyone has had any problems passing smog with this set up.

In Ca long tubes are illegal....period. Any change of cat location is illegal. Smog check includes a visual inspection.

Now if you can find a shop to skip the visual you'd be ok with a good tune on the sniffer.

 

who the **** is the government to tell me where I can place my cats, I say **** em!

Now, that being said....yes the local laws here in cali do not allow us to use Log tube headers. (although I am)

 

terry, my mom just had her durango smogged here in henderson and my dad said that they did no visual inspection and just plugged into the motor to check smog. He said you could pass smog with no exhaust here haha. Try asking this question on silveradoss as well because I know there are some guys there that are from here.

The cats should be far enough down that the use of LT with OEM cats is feasible. This is what I am planning to do. If a smog guys does a visual, the cats will be in the stock location, so if the LT retain the OE emissions hook ups it will pass the visual. Now if we are talking about technically passing, then no because they do not have a CARB EO number.

 

Thats cool, as long as they pass. I'm sure they will, cuz the exhaust shop that is doing my set up for the cat back, will also being doing the smog next year. But I had to ask the question in case I go somewhere else.

 

I'm from frisco and I have LT's in mine with no cats. I'm due for my smog on november and I'm worried as hell for what I'm going to do for that. I might just take it off and put it back on stock.

i dont have cats( well i do but they are well decoy's) and have long tubes i dont know exactly what im going to do about smog yet. but i will find a way. i have heard there are certain counties in ca that do not require a smog. that may work and if not i may try arizona. and if that doesent work hopefulli can find someone to overlook the visual part. but i do need some cats before i evben think about the sniffer.
