The 40gr V-MAX is a fair amount better, check out this chart (http://www.hornady.com/images/ballis...ics_charts.pdf).
223 is a better choice for 500+ but if all he really plans on doing is exactly what he said then he made a pretty good decision. I'm poor so I'd want one badass gun to do everything, trying to talk my dad into finally building a 308 like I've wanted for a long time

Yea for under 300 yd shots the 204 will be nice for runnin shots. 4000-4200fps helps haha

Pretty much well said above. I fell in love with the ballistics, and ive never shot at anything over 300 yards anyway. And for whatever odd reason, ive never been much of a fan of the 223. Although I know its proven.

Found some 204 brass the hard way tonight haha
Was loading some 223 on the dillon550 and some how 2 Peices of 204 brass had made their way into my pileobrass. Locked up the machine. So if you want one peice of brass it might cost ya more than its worth haha
